The Sheldrick Wildlife Trust runs the Elephant Orphanage. It is home to several orphaned baby elephants rescued all over the country after unfortunate events. The orphanage provides the perfect environment and care for the adorable animals to survive and enhance conservation efforts.

Visit the Fort Jesus Museum
The first is the Fort Jesus Museum. Built in the 16th century, the museum has a lot of historical and cultural significance that historical enthusiasts will enjoy. It also makes it one of the most popular sites in the city.

In addition, the architectural design of the fort is a marvel to behold. Created as a military fort, the museum has a wide range of military accessories and artifacts that date back to different groups that occupied the fort over the years. Due to its proximity to the Indian Ocean, the fort also provides a stunning coastline view, where you can take photos.

Explore Old Town
Afterward, you will visit Mombasa’s Old Town to enhance your city experience. Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its historical and cultural significance.

The 14th-century trading center still retains that mix of African, Arabic, and European cultural interactions. On your exploration walk, you will see the diverse and colourful architecture around the town. The intricate carvings around the buildings also add a unique touch to the city, making it feel like you stepped back in time.

Shopping and Sightseeing
Mombasa is a beautiful city with markets and landmarks to explore. You will visit the Elephant Tusks, the famous landmark that defines Mombasa City. You can take pictures before moving to the food and crafts markets around town. You can get fresh food, spices, fish, and fruits. On top of that, you can purchase handmade jewelry, baskets, and other crafts.

Haller Park
Visiting Haller Park is a good way to end your one-day visit to the coastal town. The park is reclaimed quarry land turned into wildlife conservation. It is home to a wide range of animals, including giraffes, crocodiles, hippos, and several species of birds.

Haller Park also has beautiful walking trails that wind through the conservation’s flourishing vegetation. They allow you to connect with nature and relax in a tranquil environment.
