Half day Mombasa
5/5

Tour Overview

Mombasa is one of the most iconic tourist destinations in Kenya. The coastal city offers a lot for people looking for a fun exploration adventure, even if you are just passing through.

Known for its beautiful beaches, vibrant culture, and rich history, a half-day tour around Mombasa can be eye-opening. Here is what to expect from the trip.

Tour Itinerary

Explore Old Town
Mombasa’s Old Town is the first place you will visit during your half-day tour. Old Town is one of the UNESCO World Heritage sites, renowned for its cultural and historical significance.

The mix of African, Arabic, and European cultures can be seen in the beautiful architectural designs flooding the streets with colorful buildings and narrow streets and alleys. Old Town also has a huge array of markets where you will get a feel of the local culture while interacting with friendly vendors and buying handcrafted souvenirs.

Visit the Mombasa Marine National Park
The next destination is the city’s marine park. The protected area is ideal for families to see some marine life, including dolphins, turtles, rare fish species, and coral reefs.

If you want a more immersive experience, the park offers snorkeling and scuba diving at an added cost. The glass-bottom boat rides are an exciting way to see extraordinary marine life without getting wet.

Sightseeing and Shopping
Walking around Mombasa is the next fun activity. You will stop at one of the most iconic monuments in the city, the Mombasa tusks, locally referred to as “Pembe za Ndovu.” Taking photos around the tusks is a great way to remember your half-day trip throughout the city.

Likewise, you will enjoy navigating the maze of interesting local shops filled with vibrant handcrafted souvenirs. From colored beads and shell necklaces to handwoven baskets, you will be impressed by the variety of items that embrace the coastal culture.

Hindu Temple Tour
And finally, you will visit the well-known Lord Shiva Temple in the city’s center. It is the perfect last stop, offering a serene environment for meditation, prayers, and rituals. You can take pictures, pray for your next journey, and make friends.
